Dear Friends at Epic,
The most recent windows update was just forced down my throat by microsoft today, and after a lengthy update process, now using -Dx12 when running UE4 4.11 simply crashes the video driver. I have a Nvidia Titan X that I updated to the latest drivers after this happened, but still I just get crashes now.
My hardware and -Dx12 and UE4 4.11 were working happily together before the update that I finally couldnt get win10 to put off any longer, today, Oct 1st 2016.
I tested 4.13 with -DX12 with the Elemental Demo and it is working great, same hardware, after the windows update that has made 4.11 -Dx12 reliably crash the video driver.
I mainly write this so that others know about this issue if they encounter something similar.
I’ve tests several 4.11 projects, and they are all crashing the video driver if I use -DX12, but this is all happening only after the most recent windows 10 update. Again 4.13 -DX12 seems to be just fine.
It seems windows update has now halted all of my -Dx12 progress in my 4.11 project.
I also write this in case anyone has a 4.11 project they can’t upgrade from so that you Epic might consider a hotfix/patch or something for such folks for DX12, again all of this made necessary only after most recent windows update.
Have fun today!
