Dusty Desert
Dusty Desert is a Rocket Racing Competitive Track set in a dusty desert oasis.
I took this project a bit further than I did with Misty Mounds (UEFN) by incorporating post processing, vfx effects and unique assets from the Fab Marketplace.

Challenges Faced

When enlarged, the imported assets created large overlapping collision issues that would result in my vehicle racing on top of what looked like an invisible road. I had to correct this by removing collision from my assets, and blocking the areas with elimination volumes. This allowed players to freely roam the track as intended.

With the post processing volume I was able to add a bit of subtle grain and fog ambient. I also used a slight chromatic aberration that adds to the overall effect of the map. At first, I used a setting of 1.0, -1.0 which I preferred , however noticed when testing on PS5, there were noticeable cross lines on the screen- with the further adjustments to this settings, I was able to get an effect that is more subtle and removed the cross lines from the previous setting.

Also you can see from the play-through that the elimination volumes are present and visible during the game - I believe this is a bug beyond my control, however I am thinking of creating custom blocking volumes of my own that may help with this situation.
This project was so fun and has inspired me to continue working on new Rocket Racing experiences in UEFN!
