Dual-graphic-cards-Sysytem with 2x TRX 4090 - does it make sense for Twinmotion-Rendering ?

Hello Upoort

I am considering purchasing a new CAD workstation. I am currently thinking about a configuration with AMD Ryzen 9 7950x and 2x GeForce RTX 4090 (Gigabyte Gaming OC).

My question in this context is, does a system with dual graphics cards for rendering with Twinmotion make sense in terms of processing speed and VR output, or is there no support for dual graphics card systems on the part of the software?

Hi ,

Twinmotion only supports multi-GPU in the context of Path Tracer as of the 2023.1 Preview 2 update, where two identical GPUs connected using NVIDIA SLI can be used to speed up Path Tracer rendering times.

For VR, you would not gain any benefit from having two GPUs connected.

Dear Raghib,

unfortunatelly you did not answer the question. deWilmes is asking for support of TWO rtx 4090. This cards can not be connected via SLI.

so is then any benefit of two rtx 4090? i know the restiction to path render.

best regards

Andreas

dear rahgib,

thank you very much for your very fast and detailed argumentation. As far as my questions are clarified. for the future, I would very much like to see multi-gpu implemented like in octane render. that would make twinmotion unbeatable.

I am looking forward to the future.

Best,

Andreas

Hi ,

Apologies for the lack of clarity in my previous response. Multi-GPU only works for Twinmotion when two graphics cards are connected through SLI mode, so since the 4090s do not support that you won't see any added benefit withing Twinmotion, since it will only be using one of the GPUs.

The only benefit you may see from using two RTX 4090s in this configuration is that since Twinmotion will be using only one GPU, this leaves the other GPU free for other tasks, so you can have other GPU intensive programs running on the other GPU without impacting the performance of the GPU being used by Twinmotion.

I hope that is clearer. Let me know if that is helpful.

Best,

Raghib
