Drone 360 Panorama to Ue4 workflow - Making a Skybox in Ue4

Hi, I don’t know if this is the correct page to put this query, so please redirect me if incorrect. I am also fairly new to all this so please bare with me.

I am working with a drone photographer, he takes 360 panorama shots and I build an Archviz scenes, set up in Ue4 and import 360 Panorama to use.

I am trying to find out the best workflow to get those 360 panorama shots into unreal. He has the following options of files he can send me :

  1. TIFF
  2. PSD
  3. PSB
    5 MOV
  4. JPEG

Please see below screenshot below. It is not great resolution, still blurry.

The original 360 degree panoramic file is 25492 x 12746. The drone photographer sent me the file in JPEG format, which I’ve since been told is not good for Hdri.

I took it into Photoshop and reduced size to 2048 x 4096, then saved as EXR (HDRI File). Imported into Ue4. Brought in Sphere from Engine Content, Made material, placed HDRI image into material. Changed the mip gen settings to no mipmaps, changed the texture group to Skybox.

I don’t know if I’m doing this all wrong

Also, In order for me to use the HDRI as cubemap in Skylight, what type of file must it be?

Your help is very much appreciated, thanks.

Did you ever solve this?

I want to know the solution about your topic. Did you find it?

Maybe try higher resolution for imported HDRI, like 8k
