Hey!
Is there a way (using a variety if UE5 and third part tools) to make drastic changes to a MetaHuman, for example turning them into orc like humanoids, while still retaining all of the features that Metahumans support?
Or maybe this flow is not at all meant for Metahumans and I should stick to other tools like character creator or something?
Thanks!
Hey there @TRoman07! You can absolutely alter metahumans drastically, but depending on what you change, you may have some serious work ahead of you. If you are just changing their skin color and shape without massive silhouette changes, you can likely get away with just editing the meshes directly, but since they have complex material work for skin and other elements you will need to know a bit more about handling materials. Personally if you are going for very heavily stylized, I would advise a regular character art pipeline.

Here’s a video showing a bit of editing (at the 2135 timestamp), but not necessarily a tutorial:
Thank you for pointing these things out!
No worries! One more note is that as long as the geometry specifically isn’t changed, the face morphs, bones, phonemes and such will all work (mostly) fine, but if not you will end up having to rebind things, which since Metahumans have so many moving parts, is a rather painful experience if you aren’t used to editing fully rigged characters.
