downloading through Chromium and Linux

Hello ! I’m trying to download UE through chromium on Linux. It opens in the browser downloads area but eventually I get a failed-forbidden error. On smaller files I would just keep trying until it worked . But since I have meh internet and UE is a lot bigger I’m in the situation of it downloaded fine for about 9 hours then I get the failed -forbidden error. Would it work fully if I used Firefox?
I don’t mind waiting 12 hours for it to download I just don’t want it to fail after 9 hours of downloading. Even if my net goes down steam and some other programs save my download progress. This is Linux so maybe I could do some CLI stuff?
Any help is appreciated.

Hello, and welcome.

I have downloaded 5.3.2 and 5.4.2 using Firefox without issue.

That said, I suspect the problem you are facing might be server side and due to the excessively long download time you are experiencing (basically, you’re getting logged out while the download is ongoing).

Presumably shouldn’t happen, even if you waiting that long to download, so maybe try Firefox, and failing that maybe try periodically refreshing pages while downloading, to keep yourself logged in.

Good luck!

Thanks for responding. Ill try firefox. At worst it’s a waste of 12 hours. The server from Epic may be the problem? That’s the only thing I’m signed into when I try it . I think I’ve read the Firefox recommendation somewhere too. I’m off.

After12 hours and 1 failed attempt I have it downloaded. Now I have to go to a forum to actually run the program. I can usually stumble through zip files on windows and get stuff running but no luck with my mint.
