Trying to downgrade a map, is there a way to do this?
Yes, open the projects folder and right click on it can’t select what version you want. you need the version you want to be installed from the Epic Games launcher
Edit:
Hi thankyou, i have tried that, and I can open the project in the correct Engine version. But whilst the folder structure is there, all the folders are empty.
What you can do is to migrate the content from a new project that is in the sam,e version of Unreal, and please mark this as resolved
– migrate from 4.23 to 4.2 project? Tried that, it did not work, folders go over, but end up empty. Assets can be seen in the file explorer, not Unreal. Or do you mean make a new empty project in 4.23 then migrate from the existing project to the new blank project, then migrate to 4.2?
No, migrate the folders from 4.2 to 4.2
unreal says “no files were found to move”
So to check you are saying the steps are to go from 4.23 - 4.2. are:
1.make copy of 4.23 project (TheSource)
2.Set the engine version of copy (TheSource) to 4.2
3.make a blank 4.2 project (Intermediate)
4. Open 4.2 copy project (TheSource)
5. Choose folder the 'Migrate"
6. open 4.2 (Intermediate)
7. Migrate to destination 4.2 (The Goal)?
I get to step 5 and get this error
Do you need more help
Damm forum not accepting posts
Ok so I get an error
What do you mean?
so the steps are:
- Open 4.23 project (source) make a copy
- Set version to 4.2
- Make blank 4.2 project (intermediate)
- Open (Source) copy with 4.2
- Migrate folders to (intermediate)
- Migrate folders from (intermediate) to (goal)?
I get the error at step 5
You can’t copy and past file from an Unreal Engine 4 version lower then 4.23 and you can’t copy from a newer version to an older version. The only way is migrate from Unreal Engine 4 that is the same version as the version you try to send the files to.
ok so you are saying the answer to my question: ‘Downgrade Map from 4.23 to 4.2’ is no?
Yes, but make a backup so you don’t lose any files, in case something go wrong or the downgrading fails
Well i told you it failed and I mentioned making a copy. Are you able to confirm or deny that downgrading is possible??
It is possible, but you must do it from the project folder. Right Click the .uproject file and select changes version and select the version
What I did was that I downloadet a 4.22 version to 4.21.
ok well, i have tried that, and I can open the project in the correct Engine version. But whilst the folder structure is there, all the folders are empty.
That mens that the contents is not compatible with an older version of Unreal.
