Thank you for sharing your creative works with us!
I have photosensitivity, so I was not able to make it through the video. However, from your screenshots, the way in which the light reflects upon the dark sculptures and the bas-relief is mesmerizingly beautiful! What was your inspiration for this project?
The inspiration was a dark abandoned art gallery. I wanted to see if I could tell a story, and create a sense of dread, only with lighting but no character or other animations. It was a way to explore the extreme effects our environment has on our psyche.
And thank you for bringing the photosensitivity issue to my attention - I have updated the description in vimeo, but unfortunately cannot seem to edit my post above. I will make sure to say in future descriptions of the piece.
It’s amazing what you can create when you challenge yourself! From your response, I envisioned an interpretation.
From the dark dungeons of Dante’s inferno, this project has given the visual and visceral effect of the hidden pain of scars beneath tragic bandages. The shadowy pitch of an ethereal nightcrawler can, indeed, be felt with every glimpse of light. Do I dare step into the dark matter that is “Don’t Be Afraid”?
The duality of my conscious descends upon two approaches. Which do I follow? Do I follow “conscious A” and willfully step into this grim universe as a mental exercise facing the fear of looming dread and compel my mind to not be afraid? Or do I follow “conscious B” and accept the reality as it is presented - to bask and dance in the dread, and bathe in the darkness of my fear?
I closed my eyes and listened to the music. It is both heart-pounding and and exhilarating! It is the perfect soundtrack to the stills you provided! I’m sure it also provides a flawless audible overcast for the video as well!
Regarding updating your post, please let me know what you would like stated. I can edit it for you. I immensely appreciate you looking out for us photosensitive folks! Thanks again for such a stirring visual!
