Does retargeting to a skeleton with a virtual bone work?

Whenever I try to retarget an animation to a skeleton that has a virtual bone as a custom bone in the humanoid retargeting preset, the engine crashes. Am I not supposed to retarget with a virtual bone? If yes, why does the engine let me attempt it and then crash?
