I am trying to use UE5 for animations and cinematics.
I was wondering which is the best approach: Should I create separate projects for each animated film/cinematic, or should I create only one project with all my assets inside and create all my different works there?
In the latter scenario, my project folder is over 100gb due to much content and I am worried it might result to lags or delays.
If you create separate projects for each animated film/cinematic, it may make it easier to manage your assets and keep your projects organized. This approach may also help you avoid potential issues with project file size and performance, as each project would only contain the assets and data required for that specific project.
On the other hand, creating a single project with all your assets inside may save you time and effort in terms of asset management, as you would not need to transfer assets between projects. However, as you mentioned, the project file size could become an issue, leading to performance problems, especially if your hardware specifications are not sufficient to handle the size of the project.
One possible compromise could be to create separate sub-levels within a single project for each animated film/cinematic. This approach would allow you to keep all your assets in one project while still keeping your work organized and avoiding performance issues related to large project file sizes.
Naturally, an animated film would need to take place in many different locations (eg. a house interior, an office interior, a city street, a restaurant etc).
So, I could create a single project with all my content and then organize my work in different folders, as follows:
