Okay, I would like to have my own folder system within ue4. I made a 1-My-Content folder and sorted it like HUD Prefab, ect under the Third Person Folder. I made a basic hud and I’m pretty sure I am calling it right but it doesnt show up. I havent made any actual content, I am simply putting in placeholders of the elements that I want to use. So, is there something I am doing wrong or does location really matter? The reason I want my stuff in one location when possible is so I can easily find it and possibly delete it if I muck something up. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
Edit: I found out by going to the video on youtube that you must close out the editor before before it will show up. One of the commentors mentioned this. But still, does location matter?
the hierachy of your folders doesnt matter if you are not planning to submit it to the marketplace or anything. if it is a personal project, folder placement does not matter at all. it is just there to organize it for the developer. and have multiple similarly named assets (e.g. M_Grass).
Thanks, I noticed that the system deletes empty folders on close, I had a whole bunch named and closed it out, upon opening it I found everything gone. I thought I opened the wrong one and double checked to be sure lol
THANK YOU, i think i finally get what i did wrong. last year one of my projects vanished into thin air. i guess i havent saved it and the editor just deleted it because it was equal to an empty project. thanks, i think i have finally found an explanation for it.
