Does Epic Games Launcher only install the 32-bit version on a 64-bit Windows system?

Hello!

I have been having issues with Epic Games Launcher on my Windows PC. Even though my system is a 64-bit Windows operating system, only the 32-bit version of Epic Games Launcher is installed. I have read that the installer should install both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions for compatibility, but for some reason only the 32-bit version is installed in my case.

I have tried reinstalling multiple times to no avail, the issue persists. Has anyone else encountered this issue and if so, how did you resolve it? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there @VanDirk4!

That’s a peculiar issue you have, most likely tied to your local setup, and your current Windows version. Checking through the community, there’s a manual workaround available:

  • Go to Epic Games/Launcher/Portal/Binaries
  • Copy and Past the Win32 folder, rename it into Win64
  • In the new folder, run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as administrator
  • This should force the update and create the Win64 binaries folder
  • Now you can acess the 64-bit version
