Does anyone know why the character's feet aren't fully planted on the ground even though they're aligned with the capsule?

I disabled the Control Rig Foot IK. As shown in the Blueprint, I have to move the mesh down a bit to make the feet fully plant on the ground. If I leave the mesh at the same height as the capsule, the feet float slightly above the ground.

I don’t think this is an animation issue because I also tried disabling the AnimBP, and the feet still float. Does the character capsule have some built-in offset from the ground?

The reason I’m asking is that I animate my character using Control Rig. If I have to offset the mesh downward just to make the feet touch the ground, the animations become inconsistent when I use them on the character, and the feet end up floating.

Or is this just how the character capsule is supposed to behave? When I move around the level, it looks like the capsule doesn’t actually sit flush on the ground, so I’m wondering if there’s always a small offset by design.

Not sure why capsule seems to be floating, but I think it’s pretty common just to move the mesh down a cm or 2 and let ik sort out the foot placement.

Are you using the sample animations or custom animations? Custom animations sometimes dont plant the feet (Not to diss you if you animated it), and I know you referenced this, but sometimes some fine-tuning of the IK foot rig can be necessary. Hope this helps!
