Do you have to have Direct X 11 support for Unreal Engine to work?

My computer doesn’t support dx11 and I’m getting a crash when running it. Does Unreal Engine 4 require Direct X 11 support? Is there any way to change it to 9 or 10 through config files?

You need at least DirectX 10 GPU. Though I don’t recommend for working anything that do not support DX11 and is slower than Radeon 7850.

Thank you!!! But now, I need a way to set it to dx10 through the config files, since the editor won’t run. Can you please help me?

Add this to command line -d3d10.

I can’t say for 100% it will work in new build as I don’t have access to it yet. But it is worth a try.

This may not be my problem after all. UE4 will not run for me

there are other engines like unity , havok anarchy ,leadwerks ect that support all the dx from 9.

havok anarchy is only for mobile
