Do I need to learn blueprints to learn 3D animation in UE?

Hi, I’m new to UE5 and used to use Maya for animation and modeling. However, it’s too expensive and was wondering if I should use UE5 for animation. My questions is, do I need to learn blueprints to do 3D animation in UE5? and would you suggest to use UE5 for animation?

Any advice will be helpful. Thank you.

You don’t need any knowledge to animate. As long as you can move things around and hit save, your good.

If you use maya, stay there. I have been using UE5 for a while and I have tried to animate. I just use Blender to model and animate.

  • It's free
  • It's open source
  • It's kinda awesome
  • It works with everything (even 3DS Max, which is crazy)

A rock and a piece of wood will make for a better digital congent creator…

I really don’t get what you just said. If it insulted Blender, agree to disagree. It isn’t very popular with game devs. Kinda sad

I understand what you mean. In my university, we do group projects and stuff and everyone use UE. I was thinking of doing animation in UE since we all be using the same platform/software.

Yeah, true. I still haven’t figured out how to animate inside Unreal. I didn’t go to any classes FYI. I just got used to Unreal, Blender and the Adobe CC collection
