I tried really hard to understand the legal documents they refer me too but I just don’t have a brain for that sort of thing. The way the wording is when I produce the final asset makes me feel like they are saying they now own a copy of whatever I make.
Hi @Scrybe,
Could you please send a screenshot of a text that you are referring to?
Being very ignorant of legal stuff, when I see the word ‘license’ I don’t know if that means I’m GETTING a license, GIVING a license or what a license does or means. I am not saying that any of the wording here is unclear or poorly articulated. only that I have a huge deficiency in my cognitive/educational capabilities that keeps ME from understanding it. So I’m suspicious because… waves hands at the whole state of the tech industry
I will add that I’m confused by the licensing of “images” specifically, and not the model I’m generating. I don’t understand how this would work if, for instance, I’m inputting images of copyrighted stuff. Say an action figure or Nike shoe. How can I own any license then?
Ultimately, if someone can just pat me on the head, give me a graham cracker and a juice box and say, “No, Josh, they are not taking your art when you make it.” I’ll be content.
We currently offer an Enterprise license, or PPI (Pay-Per-Inputs license). The Enterprise license is the standard license as any other software has. Pay once and use it as much as you want.
The PPI is licensing your inputs. If you have images of copyrighted stuff, you are still licensing just those images, not the copyrighted stuff. How those images are used for marketing or any other publishing or public postings is on the client. If you have the rights to use those images of the copyrighted stuff for marketing or publishing purposes, then you can use them for those purposes. You can still use them in RealityCapture, and license them, but without given rights, you won’t be able to publish those results for marketing purposes.
We do not own any of your creations or inputs you use. The licenses for your inputs are being stored on our servers (up to 2 years, so make sure to export a license file from the Workflow tab) once the inputs are licensed, but inputs are not being stored anywhere.
thank you for clarifying!
