Do characters have to remain in place during an animation?

What’s up everyone I’m curious do characters stay in same location in a 3d software regardless of the animation? Like for an example I’m designing a knockdown animation and running animation in iClone 5 Pro for one of my imported DAZ Genesis characters. Do my characters have to stay in the center of the 3d space regardless of what animations I’m designing? I really need know how that one works exactly because I’m not too sure how the animation will look in Unreal Engine 4 and I really really don’t want to make any needless mistakes that can be avoided.
