Do anybody know why this is happening UE5 crashes when I open maps or animations

So I have been working on my project and I was to go to testing with my community and then my unreal engine editor started crashing when I open maps and now animations as I just tried to open one. It opens up in showcase maps and certain template maps but when I open certain ones even in new projects with nothing in them no coding or nothing the editor will crash.

No error will pop up the launcher will open and when it crashes my screen sometimes go black and everything else that was open crashes with it. Do anybody know why this is happening?

Hey @Sethrichardz, welcome to the Unreal Community!

The whole screen going black sounds like the graphics card crashing. What GPU do you use, and are your drivers up to date? Some GPUs log crashes, but you can also look for crash information in Event Viewer in Windows, sorting by System and Application by time may give some insight as to what is crashing.

I recommend updating your GPU drivers first, then rebooting Windows and seeing if that helps!

I hope this information helps, and good luck!

I am using an Rx 550 right now and I will look into that right now.

I also just upgraded my graphics card to a 3060 ti and got the same thing
can it be my intergrade graphics card? This is the error I got. Also some maps load but bigger ones crash.

Hey @Sethrichardz!

Seems most of your error log is cut off! Would you mind copying the text of your error so we can see the context of what is going on?

Any additional information you can provide will be a big help in solving your problem!

Yes I am trying to get that error to pop back up this is what I get now

Once it appears again I
will post it here.

I got it finally lol

Hey @Sethrichardz!

  • Do you have anything managing your allocated memory on your PC?
  • This kind of looks like a driver may need to be updated, program removed (sounds like you moved from AMD to an Intel GPU, did you delete AMD software completely?), or a memory leak issue in your code.
  • Is there anything running in the background/any background process that may hogging up your memory? Could you possibly check your Task Manager to see what your current usage is?

Anything else that comes to mind that could be related is greatly appreciated.

hey, this is my task manager, I also deleted the software. The only problem is my integrated graphics card is amd. Also, certain maps open I believe its the big maps that do not open.

Hey, update I get this as well from my main map. This is the error message

You do not have any debugging symbols required to display the callstack for this crash.

Hey @Sethrichardz!

I would check your Global video settings for your computer. I am not sure which control panel you are using (I am assuming the one for your graphics card is Nvidia), but try going to Global 3D settings there and set your GPU as the global default.

I hope this solution is the one you need!
