Hello.
Newbie here. Maybe this got asked somewhere already.
Is there a way to create a custom lightshow. Save it and play it whenever we want.
My goal would be to create a stage with many fixtures on it. And when you play certain songs the light show would automaticaly start depending on the song selected.
The DMX project seems to be to best way to go unfortunately I don’t know anything about DMX, I don’t have a controller at home. And I feel it might be intended for people in the industry who need a vis of there show inside unreal before using it in real life.
They provide a MA grandma2 project file which includes the correct fixtures for them. However you don’t get a free output universe like you do with DOT2. So what I did is export the fixtures out of grandma2 into the ma fixture builder. Export them again into dot2 and you are able to use them with unreal.
If you are really interested i’m willing to give a more in depth explanation about how to set everything up but see if you can figure it out yourself first.
as a newbie to unreal 3d modelling. this whole concept is so cool.
but as an avid GrandMA user (onPC v3.9) i was hoping for a plugin of sorts to allow pre-vis playback but nothing as yet. i do suspect that there is development for MA3 to have unreal support given the industry prowess of MA technologies.
would you know of any course for building a stage environment or be willing to offer support to me as i build my stage?
I have the fundamentals down I believe.
I started learning grandma 2 in pc the last 2 weeks. I think I have the basics down right now and overall it’s a great experience. To visualize what I am doing I use Unreal engine so it is definitely possible to do. If you want I can help you set it up, please add me on discord: ManexFx#0001
Some of you went for grandma2. I found a way recently to achieve my goal using Chamsys MagicQ. Used a template to configure the DMX plugin. Setup my software accordingly.
Had to tweak a bit for the fixtures since the one inside Unreal are not directly inside MagicQ.
But in the end it’s working great !
