Distant Sky - Minimap Kit - Minimap, World Map, GPS Route, Compass & Fog of War

Minimap Kit gives your level a minimap and a full-screen world map in any style. Drop one actor in the level, pick a style, add a marker component to the actors you want on the map, and press Play.

Eight ready styles, one data asset each
Modern (round, tilted 3D), Tactical (square, grid, coordinates), Parchment (a painted map with a torn edge and fog of war), Hologram (scanlines, radar sweep), Minimal, Urban (a borderless rectangle), Radar (borderless, tilted) and Street (a flat street map). Each one brings a matching full-screen world map. Every value can change at runtime:

  • Shape: round, square, rounded, rectangle or your own mask

  • A frame, or an edge that fades out

  • Nine screen positions, size and colours

  • North up, or turning with the player or the camera

  • Compass letters, grid, scale bar, coordinates and zone name

Three views
Flat 2D, tilted 3D (the map leans away like a car dashboard map), or painted from a texture you bake in one click, at no capture cost while the game plays.

Street Look
Turns any level into a clean street map in flat colours: buildings, roads, parks and water. No setup, and it works on hill towns and coastal towns too.

Roads and a GPS route
Any spline becomes a road on the map: tag the actor or add the road component. Set a waypoint and a GPS route follows your roads to it, drawn right over them, with the remaining distance under the map. It recalculates when the player leaves it.

Markers
Add the marker component to any actor, a building or a moving character:

  • 30 icons, each in five matching sets

  • Labels and colours

  • Clamped to the map’s edge with a direction arrow

  • Up and down arrows for height

  • Important markers that always show

  • Categories with a legend

  • Optional icons in the 3D world with their distance

World map
Full screen, pan and zoom with the mouse or a gamepad, click to set the waypoint, legend and zone names. The waypoint snaps to markers, follows moving targets and clears itself on arrival.

More

  • A compass bar across the top of the screen (three looks, filtered by category)

  • Map zones that name the area you are in

  • Fog of war that hides undiscovered markers and can be saved and restored

  • Buildings between the map camera and the player turn see-through, so the street stays readable

Built to run well

  • One scene capture (512 px at 30 Hz by default), or none in the painted view

  • Pooled marker widgets

  • Road lines drawn only near the view

Demo included
A small town with roads, a river, shops, characters, coins and a quest objective. Keyboard and mouse or gamepad controls (AZERTY keyboards too); every control calls the documented Blueprint API.
