I am using a “Distance Fields” on the skin material of a cartoon character to simulate the shadows that would be generated when an object approaches the character. As you can see it works perfectly with a big square:
But a small square doesn’t seem to affect the material at all:
Is there a solution? Maybe the effect can be intensified?
Thanks in advance.
Hello!
From what i can see, maybe the mesh has turn off the component that makes it able to be rendered in de distance field layer, you can check that in the details panel and turn on “Affect Distance Field Lightning”
Hope this helps!
Thank you, I have tried it, but it does not solve the problem. I find it strange because in the “ambien occlusion” pass you can see that the effect is possible, there must be some way to intensify the effect.
Hello!
I found this tutorial on distance fields shadows, maybe it could work for what are you looking for

Thanks for the video! I learned a lot. However, although I have followed the instructions in the video and tried to upload several more values, I can’t get the problem solved at all. If I could just make a texture that captures the “occlusion environment” in real time it would be perfect.
