Hello, have 50GB of disk space free on SSD.It was all consumed by the disk cache building a model out of 1900 pictures.
Does a regular HDD slow down performance a lot?
How much disk space should I free up for a project this size?
hard drive is a big slow down.
depends on how big your projects are as to how much you need.
but its probably closer to 300gb that you will need,
I’ve generally seen my cache size between 200gb - 1tb.
but the upper end is with around 6000 photos @ 36mp, and large area, on high recon.
I’m running ssd’s in raid 0. but it dosen’t take full advantage of them .
I think sata ssd’s (in raid 0 if you need the space) are fine.
Hi Paulius Briedis
the classic spinning HDDs have just small impact, but depending on data volume, if you have say a 20k image project, the difference between HDD and SSD can be “few hours”. It’s even worse with external HDDs.
The CACHE size depends on more factors, so no precise calculation is possible. The approximate cache size equals the size of all your data converted into uncompressed tiff…
