(Discussion) Sensitive spline tool for RR

A rant about the track spline tool and points.
not the worst, can be powerful, not a “beginner friendly start”.

while the tool is not that confusing, the actions around the tool can make it extremely confusing, until one figures it out. As there will be issues with some points/rotation and limits, like when modifying it will blast into space at times or not work as wanted.

so I do wonder if one could have an easier time to separate points and the actual spline and the object itself, and maybe give some tips on the keys to use when handling a spline. as not able to create points on spline, unless you very specifically hit the actual spline and you might not know if that is what you have selected.

I guess one way would be having another spline mode (unlike terrain), in the selection mode option or having a toggle around there, doing everything spline related and more options when selecting any part on a spline.

as from doing rocket racing with the track splines, adding new points and having the option to add new points can vary so much, in how the user interacts with track/spline asset. like at first I though I could add new points when selecting spline component of the road or in the “style editor”, but unable to do so, and very limited in how to add it from the viewport, as everything else gets selected first and very specific in getting to the “add point” drop down menu. then to dragging the real spline point with ALT to automatically create new points, can be a journey to get it to work.

a bit off-topic but found it funny, working with the spline tool, can make editor elements shake. thought it was funny.
