Since this is kind of a mind map for my understanding of things as they currently are, and not a bug, I should be OK editing this, and then if you want me to break anything out into fix requests, I can do that in separate posts, yes?
I’ve made two of each speedrun and competitive tracks.
Fragility of Props:
Maybe this is something that’s fully documented somewhere else, but is there a way to modify whether something should wreck your car or not?
Some things seem to break no matter how fast you’re going (large bush) while others will wreck you unless you’re going really fast? (red barn prefab, trees, etc).
UEFN session testing experience is wildly different from live. EVERYTHING seems indestructible in session, and some things (covered bridge roof) crumble at a glance.
I know I can make things not take damage, I DON’T want everything indestructible, I want to lean harder into breaking open shortcuts that might lose you time the first time, but are a net win in later laps.
editing more in later.
Differences between Competitive and Speedrun tracks
What devices/props/etc. supported (cherry-picking)
Comp tracks seem very limited in devices and collections available, which is understandable, because you need high framerates with multiple cars on screen at high speeds. I get it.
Stack-ranking device requests
Trackers/Accolades/Analytics:
I’d like to have people smash though six fences, etc.
Playlists, please?
Would love to have the ability to link tracks together and not have you forced to repeat the same one over and over or quit.
Terrain LOD morphing issues:
This might be a ticket I’ll write, and/or a tutorial for Best Practices for dirt tracks if there isn’t one already…. how to play to Landscape strengths on LODs
Discover and RR:
Normal Discover, paraphrased “runs tests of 50k impressions on new and updated maps”. RR maps don’t seem to really ever get into actual Discover, but are relegated to living within RR ecosystem “top” or “more” creator section.
Also, the normal “you want 15-20 minute sessions” only applies to RR maps (of either type) if you’re deliberately trapping players there with ridiculously long tracks and high lap counts.
it would be great to have some “how to succeed in Discover with RR” videos/articles.
