Direct x 12 Crashing issue

So same issues as always DX12 crashes the engine when trying to launch and i have talked with amd and it’s not on the driver side but only the engine side so if you can please fix this issue in the engine i would be very happy thanks

DX12 integration is still not complete, so do expect crashing, and other issues. Altho I do not experience any crashes myself, but I am using an NVIDIA card. I do experience increased memory usage. I would suggest instead of just stating a blanket statement of fixing it, to post an answerhub with the crash log and link it to this post so that Epic can help better. But really I would not expect DX12 to be production ready until 4.10 or even 4.11 or beyond.

DX12 should be the main priority right now for the editor as it will change things and dx12 has been ready since preview 5 of windows 10 so the slow integration is getting very tiresome

I have a GTX 970 and it’s crashing at startup :frowning:

I still have no luck getting my Titan X to run with DX12 in UE. It crashes on start. Has anyone else managed to get UE running DX12 on a Titan X?

I have a Titan X and can launch in D3D12 mode without an issue

Thanks for the answer, . How is the performance? Did you have to do any tweaking or out of the ordinary stuff to make it work? As far as I’ve understood, it should be enough just to start it with the -d3d12 switch.

Hey everyone,

Just saying that it’s work perfectly with my GTX970.
At the moment, I do not have any issue or crashes.
But I do experience some lost frame from Starter Map test level (100fps only & 80 if i moved)
I had 120fps+ with DirectX 11.

God Epic, why directX12 integration is so slow ? Unreal Engine will not the first engine that will release a fully directx12 game! :stuck_out_tongue:

Take a look at DirectX APIs and you’ll see why takes so long to port an engine as big as Unreal.
Epic is naturally much more focused on tools than base portability; because they actually use their own engine to make games. It’s not like some other engine provider whose never made a game themselves and all they care of is providing API wrappers for all the platforms out there while their engine has close to no tools builtin and ppl must complete the engine buying tools from the asset store

oh yes, i know that  World wasn’t built in a day.
Just that we know nothing about the dx12 integration, no more info what they are doing. i am just excited to start something with dx12.
