Direct link setting source

I have an issue with the direct link from Archcad 27 to Twin motion. Twin motion will not allow me to select a source. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Archicad and twin motion, I have also tried going back to a previous version in both and multipe engine versions. i have read through the forums and tried anything that i had not before however still no direct link setting source. This box can not select anything at all. If someone could please help it has been a week long challenge that is not yet resolved.

Hi @ANJA74

I’m currently experiencing the same issue…

It’s super annoying that we can’t get any actual assistance from Twinmotion. I reported my issue last Friday and still no response…

I’m running Archicad 27 on a MacBook Pro 23. I don’t think the issue started until I updated to the new version of Twinmotion 2024.1.2

Hi @MC_Jut

Maybe you could assist us with our problem.

I have finally found the fualt reason for mine not working. It was Mcafee antivirus. As soon as I removed this it work fine. I had given it exlcusions to allow epic games and twin motion to have fee access for sending and recieving however it still blocked it. Once gone the Direct link source setting linked perfectly. So maybe check your antivirus software.

Just to add to my previous message. After uninstalling the Mcafee software I reinstalled a new VPN software and Direct source linking stopped again. So check your VPN as it is more than likley this that is stopping the Direct link Source settings from working.

Hi @ANJA74

Thank you for the information. It would appear that this also fixes my issue. I was using ESET.

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

To answer your question, Direct Link relies on network communication and needs certain ports to be available. TM uses port 6666 by default, but depending on the other DCC applications you’re using, there may be different ports involved.

Additionally, Direct Link requires access to a cache folder, so it’s important that the folder has the correct permissions for proper functionality.

Here are a few things you can check:

Ensure that your network and firewall settings allow TM/UE and the DCC application to communicate over both public and private networks.
If that doesn’t resolve the issue, it’s possible that a port might be blocked. You can use the Process Monitor tool to check what might be causing the problem, especially if the firewall has already been configured to allow the applications.
Let me know if you’re still having trouble, and I’ll be happy to assist further!

Best regards,

I have the same problem. TM/UE are allowed over public network. How do i check for private? What are DCC applications? What is the process monitor tool?
