Ive been trying to create a VR flight Sim style game but ran in to some difficulty getting my Thrustmaster HOTAS -Flight controller working
Not only that but as the playstation MOVE controllers also use Direct input I would like the opportunity get both the navie and move working with UE4 so i could make some nice little VR games using them as a controllers
but all I see is the Xinput option which IMHO is inferior due to the amount of button mapping options and Force Feedback! which is bound to return with flight stick making a comeback since ELITE & Star citizen.
Is there anyway You awesome People at EPIC give us some kind of official Direct input plugin and open up UE4 to more controller options pls.
Unfortunately this has been marked as out of scope for the current direction Epic is taking with UE4. While there is a possibility that this will change in the future, direct input controllers will not be a feature added into the engine anytime soon. It is possible that a developer with access to source may be interested in taking on the challenge of implementing functionality for direct input controllers, I would recommend inquiring in the Github or C++ sections of the forums to see if there is interest!
Gotcha. With the incoming “Plugin Marketplace” coming into fruition, I am sure that some enterprising individual will create a HOTAS / Direct Input plugin for UE4.
