Hello, everyone!
I wanted to share my new project here. I’m going to work on a small Stranger Things diorama, specifically Joyce’s living room.
In this diorama, I’m going to recreate the scene where the Demogorgon tries to break into the living room, destroying it in the process.
Here’s my mood board.
Hello, everyone!
This week, I’ve been working on planning how to organize this project.
I’ve also been working on a more structured blocking.
And I’ve been working on three assets: the main sofa and two armchairs. I modeled them in Maya and textured them in Substance Painter.
Then I placed them in the scene.
Hello, everyone!
This week, I worked on six assets: three shelves, the central table, and two televisions, one of which is lying on the floor because of the Demogorgon.
I modeled all the assets in Maya and textured them in Substance Painter.
For the central table, since it has sculpted wood, I modeled it in Maya and sculpted it in Zbrush.
In the case of the televisions, I also did the high poly.
On the other hand, I have created the walls, ceiling, and floor, but I still need to work more on their textures.
In addition, this week I have done a first pass at lighting.
Hello, everyone!
This week, I’ve been modeling several assets: two tables, a laundry basket, a chair, and a radio cassette player. As always, everything was modeled in Maya and textured in Substance Painter.
But one of the parts that took me the most time was the Christmas lights that Joyce has hung all over the living room.
To make this part more procedural, I created a spline of wires and light bulbs. To do this, I created three geometries: the wire and the two types of light bulbs. It was quite a challenge, but I think the result is pretty close to the reference.
I also did a second pass of lighting , placed the cameras in their almost final positions and I’ve done the blocking for the set dressing
Hello, everyone!
This week, I’ve been working on quite a few assets for the set dressing to make it look more like the original.
In addition to the ones I’ve modeled myself, I’ve also downloaded many from websites such as Sketchfab and CGtrader.
I’ve also added decals for the letters painted on the wall and the torn paper effect, although there is still work to be done.
As in previous weeks, I’ve done another round of lighting.
Hello, everyone!
This week, I’ve been busy finalizing the details of the set dressing, such as adding decals and a few missing objects.
But above all, I’ve focused on lighting, working on the cameras, and, as a new feature, doing a first pass on the cinematic cameras.
Hi @Skytthen Absolutely brilliant work. You truly captured the essence of the show, I half expected a Demogorgon to jump out at me. How long did the entire diorama take from start to finish?
