WEEK 2

Hello everyone! I’m back to update the thread with new advancements in the diorama. This week, I have polished the blocking and assets on my scene. I also created UVs for some of them and made a few adjustments to the main layout of the scene. This coming week, I aim to create low- and high-poly assets for those that require it, and start texturing them as well. Here are some pictures of how it is going! Hope you like them and see you next week.

Hey @Lugia1909 The diorama is really coming together! The dinosaur instantly pulls in your focus. You can definitely see the improvements, it is all looking really clean so far.

Glad you like it! I will update soon

WEEK 3

Hello everyone!

I am back with more updates. This week, I have made some progress with texturing some assets, although not finished, these textures give me an idea of how the lighting in the scene really works. I will definitely give the textured assets a revision and change wear and tear, story telling etc, accordingly. On the other hand, I started configuring materials in Unreal for the tileable textures and already have a few of them. I need to find good materials that suit my needs, and that is one of my tasks for this week. In the lighting of the scene, I took inspiration from a Dead Space concept art that really has a similar vibe to what I am trying to transmit with the scene it is still a work in progress, and I will keep perfecting it this week. That would be it for this week’s progress. I leave you with the lighting reference and the usual screenshots of the scene. Hope you like it!

Hey @Lugia1909 Wow, that’s amazing progress for just three weeks! It is really cool seeing your diorama take shape. How are you thinking of bringing more life and energy into the scene even though it is a still moment?

Hi there! I am still missing all the set dressing in the scene,I will do that in the comig weeks!

WEEK 4

Hello everyone! I am back with another update. This week, I textured most of the assets that required manual texturing in my scene and began configuring some materials for those that require tileable textures. Sadly, I have been a little bit sick this weekend, so I have not been able to advance as much as I would have liked, but I managed to still configure 2 Niagara systems in unreal, one for bubbles inside the tank, and one for suspended dust in the scene, I also remodeled my celling light model since I had time, retextured the tank where the dino is floating, modeled some little terrariums that dont have textures yet, added IOR to the tank, which I am still figuring out and tweaked the lighting a little bit. I hope this coming week I finish texturing all the assets that need tileable textures so I can begin with the set dressing. I leave you with the screenshots. Hope you like them!

@Lugia1909 Your update is looking really good. I will make sure to check back in on your progress. For the set dressing, are you using all your own props or are you pulling anything from the FAB shop? If you have not checked it out yet, there are some great assets in there. Hope you’re feeling better!

WEEK 5

Hello everyone!

This week, I have made a lot of changes to my project. First of all, I did a 3rd lighting pass by adding a lot of secondary light sources, adjusting the fog and bloom with a post-process volume. I also finished most of my textures, added some cables running through the floor, modeled some new assets for set dressing, and added some particles through Niagara systems. You will see in this post that I added some new shots to show off more of the environment, including a couple of close-ups. For this week, I would like to add more cables through the ceiling and inside the tank, keep modeling and texturing assets to fill up the scene, adjust the lighting and fog, and animate a few cameras to have a couple of cinematics. Here are the screenshots for this week, hope you like them!!!

Hey there @Lugia1909 !

This has come together so nicely. The ambient lighting really helps to pull the image together. I also love that there seems to be a general light foggy look to the room. It looks like somewhere that might be a little chilly, too.

Amazing work! I can’t wait to see what fun space you create next!

Hello everyone!!

This week, I have been working on the scene set dressing, modeling, and texturing new assets to fill up the scene. I have also added the first decals in the scene, mostly to give a broken or damaged concrete look. I am planning to add a few more particle systrems but I am having some trouble implementing them, as they are being downloaded from another UE4 project. Another milestone for me this week has been doing a first pass on cinematic and animated cameras. There are still shading and lighting issues I need to fix, and I aim to get that done this week. Here are the screenshots. I hope you like them, and see you next week!

WEEK 6

Hello everyone!

Back from the holidays and back with a new update. This week is rather short because I did not do much during the holiday season. I mainly tweaked a little bit with the post process, lighting, and fixed some performance issues I was having with the scene. I also updated the cinematic cameras, and now they look much better. I leave you with the screenshots for this week hope you like them!
