Difference between 4.27, -plus, -chaos branches

Been looking around and can’t seem to figure out what the actual differences between the base 4.27, -plus and -chaos branches of the Engine are. Anyone have any insight?

I ran into the same issue a while back and could not find any information anywhere it was so weird. Plus, is for extended support of the old engine. for example 4.27 was the last build for 4 series and now they have moved on to 5 but there are still a lot for games in the pipeline using 4.27 so they are still supporting 4.27 with builds called 4.27 Plus, for how long they will do this I am not forsure.

Sorry for necro posting, but in case somebody finds this thread searching for the answer, I’ll put what I got in response from my question on the UE subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/unrealengine/comments/1g00sye/difference_between_427_plus_and_chaos/):

"4.27 is the same version you find on the Epic Launcher.

4.27-plus was created to have updated platform SDKs and add support to PS5 and Xbox Series

4.27-chaos was created to people that wanted to try out Chaos Physics when it was still experimental, since PhysX is the default solution in the vanilla 4.27. I would not recommend this branch at all, since in my opinion Chaos Physics only got usable in 5.1+ onwards." - u/soramasterbr

That was the only response I got, so it helps hopefully whoever finds this thread
