I use vert color baking pretty regularly in my art pipeline… All of a sudden it seems like my latest models do not get the vert color from maya fbx. What is happening? The vert colors im getting do not match the vert colors in my 3d package. Did unreal 5.4 break vert color import via fbx?
The attached image… i set the diffuse channel as red vertex color… its a strangely different pattern that makes no sense.
The mesh is nanite, but nanite disabled version for RVT.
I even try importing a mesh from fbx from scratch… non nanite… and painting vertex color… the initial vertex color is not htere… i can still paint on it though… but wtf? I need that baked vertex color from my 3d package.
if anyones paying attention to this thread… It seems like its a bug in the scene. I had to delete the mesh and then redrag it in… set it up to contribute to RVT… and it took into account the vert color. Very strange… i have no explanation… but i tried over and over to make the original scene object work… until i deleted it and just set it up again with same exact settings. Makes no sense so must be a bug. Anyone know how i can not encounter any of this again? or what can i do to amke it easier to fix?
