Hi,
I created all the Dialogues Wave I need and attached subtitles text to it.
But I can’t find a way to change the text design like size or background color
It would be usefull if I could bind my “Hello World” text to a Widget Blueprint

I am not on my Computer right now, but look under your Project Settings and search for font. There is a section where i think you can Change the fonz size and so on.
There’s effectively a part to change the character font, but I can’t change the color, add an image background or the size. It could be great if I could link a widget blueprint to my subtitles :’(
As i know with normal use of the Settings you can only Change the font. The size or Color or whatever is not changable. At least not with blueprints. With c++ i haven’t tried it.
So it’s better to not use the dialog system, and only use the play sound 2D and add a widget for the text if I want to have a background image ? It would be really annoying to to that for all text.
It’s really strange, the dialogue system is really good but if we can’t really customize the subtitles, then it doesn’t seem to be so usefully finaly.
I have answered a question that is very similar: Long story short, if you want to mess the subtitle manager you need to look at SubtitleManger.cpp in the engine source code.
I didn’t know I couldn’t add an UMG behind the subtitles without hiding it… I don’t really like to modify the engine code, but I tried and generated the source code and nothing has changed.
And even if it works, I’m not sure that placing an UMG behind the text is the best solution.
Look at the UMG in South Park, their background scale depending on the text size. And I can’t easily dong it because I don’t really know the size of the text. And I’m not sure it will be easy to know the dialogue length to know how long time to display the background.
I thought Unreal could provide a fast and easy solution like always
I don’t really know how the other dev works to manage subtitles.
