Detaching (un-merging) actors from an ISM

I have selected a bunch of actors and merged them into a single ISM, however, I need them back as individual actors once again. How do i “un-merge” ISMs back into individual actors?

Hi ISL_Studios,

Just remove the Instance from it’s index, and spawn a new actor at it’s Transform.

I’ve got a tutorial here - it’s for my rdInst Plugin, but the concept is the same.

Thanks for your comment, I think I understand the concept of you are saying, however, I don’t think it would be efficient for what I’m trying to do with “un-merging” MANY instance foliage actors back into individual actors. see the image below. Additionally, I do not need this to be done at runtime as I am working in an ArchViz Context, and my end game (no Pun intended) is not a game but rather images and animation.

Is there another suggestion you have? or a (VERY SIMPLE) way I could automate this …

Oh, yes what I suggested is more for real-time game play.

I’ve noticed a plugin on the marketplace that converts foliage instances into actors - I’ve never tried it, but it could be worth looking at:

RecourseDesign, THANK YOU SO MUCH!.. the tool you suggested did cost a little money… however i tested it and it worked like a charm.

… I must say this feels like a feature that should be included in the editor by default!

Anyways… Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction!
