Destructable Mesh falling apart for no reason

Hi guys,

I’m hoping someone can help here because I am pulling my hair out trying to get this to work.

I have created a destructible mesh of a chair. I would like that chair to remain whole unless it hits another object with sufficient force.

Judging by the setting names I assumed that I could set the damage threshold high which would prevent the chair from breaking, then enable impact damage and tweak the settings until it took sufficient force to break.

The problem is that whenever I load my level the chair falls apart. The only way to prevent this is to disable impact damage.

Is this a bug or am I completely misunderstanding the settings in the DM editor?

I’m using 4.12.4.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Do not check the simulate physics in your details tab.

Take off gravity.

I’m having the same issue. The suggested solutions cause their own problems.

The destructible mesh I’m using is being placed flat on the ground, but falls apart straight away.

These two links should help you sort most common destructible issues.

From your short description, I would guess that you’ve not set the Support Depth to 1 for your Destructible, but have enabled Impact Damage. Without Support Depth set to 1 or higher (higher if you’re using a destructible from PhysXLab with multiple depths).

If you’re still having issues after checking the links above please post your settings you’re using in your Destructible Mesh Editor since this would be really helpful to make sure you’ve set it up properly.
