DESPERATE FOR HELP! Black screen is killing me

Hello friends.

I have a list of people waiting for me to put out a game demo this month, and at the worst possible time, I can’t even use the engine, except maybe for a few minutes. I don’t think my problem is exclusive to UE4, but that’s usually the trigger.

When I boot up UE4, usually as soon as it begins loading, my screen goes black, and my keyboard becomes non-responsive. Once this happens, I have to power down my PC manually. Sometimes the editor will open for 5-10 minutes, but the inevitable always happens. Sometimes the color is a dark pink, but usually just black. If I just turn my computer on and leave it alone, or try to use other programs, it runs fine. It seems that the culprit is my graphics card, which is a Radeon RX 480 Gaming X. I’m reading a lot about people having issues with AMD cards. That said, I’ve tried many different updates, new and old, and none of them fix the problem.

My computer is about 2ish years old, and custom built. Initially, it ran like a champ, and I had no issues whatsoever. But one day, it started having weird video issues, or the computer would randomly reset. I’ve usually been able to resolve the issue by updating drivers, but this one really has me stuck. I’ve looked through lots of threads about this issue, and nothing has resolved it, so I’m hoping someone here can help. I have really big plans for this game, and there couldn’t be a worse time for this to happen.

Here are my specs:

Windows 10 64-bit
Intel Core i5 @ 3.50GHz
32 GB RAM
Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 8G Graphics card
DirectX 12

Had a friend crack open my computer, and it turns out I have the wrong power supply, so it most likely had nothing to do with software. Apparently my graphics card was being overloaded, which was crashing the card. Hopefully this can be helpful to someone else who has a similar situation.
