I’m wanting to start a post on AI, and basically have people help other people (including me) on making AI that isn’t robotic, but actually somewhat intelligent.
First off, I personally am wanting something like Dishonored, which means a mix between guns and melee depending on… things.
To start out, does everything literally go into a AI Tree? Cause that sounds really massive, and this is what I’ve got so far:
This is just a simple version, and it is very very clunky, and very large. To have a logical enemy, there are so so many variables to think about… “should I shoot him? Can I shoot him from here? Is there somewhere I can cover myself and shoot? If not, can I attack him with a knife? Is my health low, and if so, can I run away? Should I call other friends over? Should I beg for mercy?”
And the list goes on and on. Would all this be thrown into a single NPC Tree?
have you heard of ‘fuzzy logic’? It helps to let the AI make decisions on their own, so you don’t need to plan for every circumstance beforehand. Currently I have no good link, but I’m sure google will throw something up.
Look up** Kingpin **Life of Crime. Old game with Cypresshill. They rate that as one of the tops in AI Nav. I remember that when it first came out. With Delta Force and Theif.
