I’m trying to figure out how I would design a cable that attaches to players and automatically disconnects after reaching a specific distance with blueprints.
Think of a cable or tentacle that would latch on to a player and then snap after you get so far away from it.
I’m seeing lots of things on cables and spine tools.
And I’ve been looking into physic constraints lately, and im thinking potentially that could work?
If you have any ideas or know of any tutorials that would be helpful, that would be fantastic!
Let me know!
Thanks!
Hey there @Anonymous_4a9620d2cb994fd2cd180de054c58■■■! Welcome to the community! Depending on your use case there are a number of ways to go about this. I think your plan to go with a physics constraint for the “plug” would be best, and the cable itself could just be the generic cables from the Cable plugin. This could take some tweaking to make the linear break force for the constraint feel good, and the cable to look good and believable but I believe it’s achievable!

Awesome! Thanks for the help and resources! I’ll five into this!
No worries! I’d recommend just playing with the physics constraints a bit before incorporating the cable itself since the cable is really just visuals here. Physics in a controlled manner is always going to be a bit finicky and prone to launching into the stratosphere if handled incorrectly.
