Dear forum reader, allow me to present to you a top down point & click adventure game with story driven RPG elements, that we are currently working on.
The game is inspired by the cult and classic games as Disco Elysium and Stasis.
The story unfolds as you try to escape from a mysterious facility and its unusual occupants. Along the way you discover a dystopian dark era of human progress. Form a connection with your inner personalities and their intrusive thoughts and suggestions. Confront different characters and unravel the secrets of a futuristic human society and your place in it.
You can try the demo on steam or find it on itch.io, any feedback is welcomed and appreciated and if you wish to support us you can Wishlist the game on steam.
The demo is conceptualized as a vertical slice of the game and a proof of concept since the game is very much in development.
Hope you’re well and having a wonderful week so far
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game like this. The art style, world design, and the story all seem so thoughtfully made and so cool. How long have you been working n this if you don’t mind me asking?
Thanks for the laudatory words; the game is currently a two-man operation and we have been working on it roughly since from the beginning of this year.
A little update showing off using unreal engines Detail Lighting mode for troubleshooting textures.
UE5 documentation describes Detail Lightning view as "activates a neutral Material across the entire scene, using the normal maps of the original materials. This is useful for isolating whether your BaseColor is obscuring lighting by being too dark or noisy."
I would add that it also makes for a cool looking transitions in gameplay videos.
and a longer video:
P.S.
The first scene is also a sneak peak of the new area in the game.
This is such a cool concept! I love that you not only get to play this top-down style game but the interaction with the world is also phenomenal. Peeking at the new area with your showcase on the lighting makes everything come together very smoothly. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the development goes!
It is great to see enthusiasm for the top-down style game. The interaction mechanics and lighting effects are indeed designed to enhance player immersion.
Your anticipation for the development process is appreciated!
Continuous updates will be provided as we progress. Stay tuned for more exciting features and improvements!
Super excited to see how the development comes along! I was a little curious if this was going to have subtle changes in the character or visual upgraded differences as one progresses through the story. I was thinking about that today while working on another project of mine so I thought I’d ask!
Looks fantastic! Reminds me of the good old games like System Shock 1, Bioshock, Sanitarium etc. I loved that inventory screen when the character just split in half. I’ll def. share that video with friends!
