  1. Can I delete all data outside the reconstruction region? what I want is to specify my region, get rid off everything else, then simplify to about 1 million, then export.

Yes, set a RECONSTRUCTION REGION and use the FILTERING tool, where you can set inside/outside to be selected and then APPLY to remove the unwanted parts… you always will keep also the original MODEL there…

  1. If I click ‘Texture’ button does that automatically unwrap for me? I get a little confused as to what operations have already been done.

Yes, but I highly recomend you to use the UNWRAP tool because of multiple options how to get it done. I prefer the FIXED TEXEL SIZE and using OPTIMAL TEXEL VALUE…

  1. Is there a way to see the numbers of data points that are in use, like when I simplify I want to know how many I currently have

In the 1Ds view click on a MODEL to get all detailed information on the polygon count and UVs/textures.
