When I try to use Lattice Deform, it blackens half of the static mesh. At this point, the Lattice tool is unusable. Is this a known issue?
It sounds like you’re trying to deform a mesh without increasing the number of vertices.
An example would help
Hi @ClockworkOcean , thanks for the reply. Sure, here’s an example. The wood beam chars black when you click Lattice. Accept the Lattice and the charcoal burn is baked in.
Ah, much easier with pictures.
I’m guessing that’s a MS asset, but don’t know which one.
I just tried with S_Old_Wooden_Beam_wggnfcp_lod3_Var1
Yes, a Quixel special. See how the bottom of yours is blackened now?
I will take another look. I confirmed and it looked ok, I recall…
FYI: I fixed this by dragging a fresh copy of the asset into the scene (i.e. no transformations/scales etc on it), duplicated it, added lattice then coppied it over all other relevant instances and no black stuff!
Hi,
I too am seing this on Quixel assets. Did you fix the original issue?
Thanks,
Same thing happened to me!

This fix worked for me also. Would be nice to have someone from epic looking at this
