default texture still visible

Hello,
I’m a newb trying to learn ue (v 5.51). I am an experienced programmer, but new to UE.

I’m following a tutorial to create a basic island beach scene but material on a landscape have me stuck. I can paint materials only on some portions of the landscape, the remainder shows the default checkerboard. The selected portion in the image below shows the issue best:

if it helps the tutorial is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EtPFLZNwYY

Hey there @jsprenkle! In your landscape material, are all your textures using the Shared: Wrap Sampler Source?

Does this occur without the water system in play?

I did see the posts on the shared textures. That didn’t help.

The tutorial did the water before the textures, so I don’t know. I’ll recreate it without water and see what I get. Thanks for the suggestion

Removed the water. I notice when I paint the sand (the first in the material) it “paints” the default checkerboard. The top most texture seems to be covering the others. I must have done something wrong with the material I created.

Thanks for the help

Good to hear you have a lead. Did adjusting the original material work appropriately?
