Deactivate Particle when not Re-attacking

I want to set up a Knife Attack system in which when attacking, a trail effect appears and disappears when finished. Though the attack animation is longer than the set delay between possible attacks (which is intended and then replays the animation again). But how can I Deactivate the trail, only when the player isn’t attacking anymore after a set time? And staying active when re-attacking?
