DDC performance on HDD vs SSD

Hi all,

I got a question related to DDC and the performance of the drive location… From what I understand is, the derived cache is used for example, to compile materials/shaders and such… So this should not be impacting gameplay, right?

Currently, my project and UE5 are both installed on my SSD drive, while the DDC is on my HDD… When I test play the game, no new assets or anything added, so all should be compiled already… Still, I notice that my HDD drive is reading/writing at 100%…

My question, for in-game experience (not in development), like performance, would it be better to have the DDC on an SSD or HDD?

bump, anyone has an idea if the DDC location matters in terms of performance
