Hi,
In this test exemple there is two new open world level, both created wtih all default
One with the default lighting.
And the other with the day sequence instead of the default lighting.
The light complexity bump up significantly with the day sequence setup.
Do there is a way to lower the cost for the day sequence to match the regular lighting ?
Hi Microcosm-Studio, Let me help you with this. Yes, the Day Sequence system tends to introduce more complex lighting because it includes:
- Dynamic Directional Light with additional control
- Exponential Height Fog
- Sky Atmosphere
- Skylight
- Volumetric Clouds
I found some videos that might help you.
How to lower the cost of Day Sequence lighting:
Disable or simplify components:
Select the DirectionalLight.
Disable:
Cast Volumetric Shadows
Cast Dynamic Shadows
Atmosphere / Fog Sun Light
Adjust Skylight settings:
Try switching “Real-Time Capture” to off
Set the Skylight to Stationary instead of Movable
Reduce fog and atmosphere quality:
Lower the Scattering Distribution and Height Falloff
Disable Volumetric Fog if you’re not using it
Simplify cloud rendering:
If you’re using **Volumetric Clouds, consider disabling them during tests
Check post process volume settings:
Effects like Global Illumination, Lumen Reflections, and Bloom can increase perceived complexity
