I’ve put this off for far too long. I have been a game dev for 13 years, and first created the idea of “Project Gert” with some local developers back in 2010. It’s been 8 years since I’ve worked on a Project Gert game and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to learn some Unreal and explore the world of Project Gert some more.
In the past 10 days I’ve successfully navigated these task - all a first on the Unreal Engine.
Create a landscape
Create own textures - Quixel Mixer / Quixel Bridge
Create State Machines / States / Animations
Write a C++ class
Import character models, and write AI.
Model a blueprint
Create a blackboard and behavior tree
Create a “Double Jump” for paragon Aurora character - and animate it
Damage / kill a character.
Add realistic water, scenes.
Completely light an area.
