Datasmith - Reloading File crashes - Revit 2024 > TM 2024.1

So I had already started a project in Twinmotion 2024. I was also working in Revit 2024, so a livelink isn’t an available option (as you need 2025 for that version.) The next best thing was to Export via Datasmith. Worked like a charm. Was able to import and work on the model just fine. Everything was smooth going. File is now up to a gig. Made renderings just fine, saved often w/o any issues.

Came back the next day (today) and have to make some changes in the Revit model. I’m anticipating the workflow to be:
Revit > Export a new Datasmith file > Open Twinmotion & load original TM file > go to Import, select the uDatasmith file >click on the ‘reload’ button

I do all of that, w/o issue. While loading TM, there was an update waiting. Installed that, restarted and…

CRASH.

I’m given the following error (see below)

What gives? I have tried other exports and other versions, and always the initial import works fine - and when I go to reload the updated uDatasmith file - it crashes. Doesn’t matter the version I’m working in. That kind of doesn’t allow one to work & be productive, does it?

Sure, I can import the new model, then delete the old one, then RE-APPLY ALL my Materials… but where is the FUN in THAT??
“That’s not how this works…That’s not how ANY of this is supposed to Work!”

Help? Am I missing a button somewhere?

I’m having the exact same issue. With direct link and datasmith. TM has ebcome unuseable. Really dissapointing.

UPDATE July 1, 2024 -
I wanted to let you know that there was a recent update, which I installed, and apparently this has resolved this issue. I have been able to Export new Datasmith files (overwriting the existing one) and in TM, reload the DS file. I have been able to do this 4 times now, without incident.

I’m still cringing a little as the progress bar gets to the end - waiting for something bad to happen - but… it doesn’t crash and am able to keep working.

Thanks Devs. !!

(PS - Now I have Cars in my Trees. Literally up 30’ in the air. :open_mouth: I had used the Layout> Spacing tool for cars, but… somehow… they’re now up in the trees. I’ll make a separate post. )

Where was the location for the update installation? I checked autodesk access but there is no new version available… Running into the exact same issue you mentioned.
