Datasmith plugin doesn´t work with sketchup 2025

I use Sketchup as my main modeler software, 2025 was released more than a month ago, but the datasmith plugin doesn´t recognize it.

Yes an update of the datasmith exporter to support sketchup 2025 is in the works.
It should be updated with the release of UE 5.6 Previews coming in May / June time frame.

Sketchup 2025 isn’t the problem, Sketchup 2026 was released a month ago or so, but the datasmith installer doesn’t recognize it

It takes time for the team to upgrade, test and then release new plugins.

I see the team is working on it but no ETA yet.

Do you receive the beta versions of sketchup or the other softwares? I’m not a developer but an Sketchup Labs tester and I had the 2026 version like two months before it’s official release, I was told that all the Companies who develop plugins have as well the latest version some months earlier. Most of the plugins don’t even need to be worked on to be able to work on newer versions. What seems strange to me is that more complex plugins like V-Ray release a working plugin the same or maximum the next day after the release of a newer version, The Datasmith is basically an exporter, probably i´m a complete ignorant on the subject, but it doesn’t make sense to have an exporter plugin almost always halfway to the life of the current version of the main software, we can use it for a few months but then a new version i released and the process repeats. Unreal and Epic are huge companies, with thousands of employees, probably providing some of them the tools like the beta versions of software would help to get the Plugin at time or at least on a reasonable time lapse after the official release. I use a lot of Plugins and the one that takes more time is WrapR, it usually releases two or three week after the new version release, but datasmith takes months, sometimes it’s too late the release than the newer version arrives before the release of previous Datasmith plugin.
