I have a few different IFC’s that I want to import into Unreal Engine, but I’m having problems with one of them. It look fine in every CAD software/viewer I’ve tested it with, and it imports just fine i BlenderBIM - but for some reason it looks like this in UE5:
There’s parts missing, entire ceilings that are 5000 mm off in either direction, some walls are on the opposite side of the building, and the list goes on.
Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Engineering BIM from the same project imports perfectly.
I’m using 5.3.2.
Unfortunately, there’s a lot of data in the IFC that I’m not comfortable sharing publicly. Is there any way I can provide a sample without including the IFC-file and the included data?
We are aware of some limitation around IFC import but nothing around wrong positioning. Sadly I do not think UE log files will be of any use in that context.
Are you generating the IFC files yourself?
If yes would it be possible to make a toy example (with like 3,4 basic geometries) that illustrates the position issues you describe and share that with us?
Thank you for the sample, I created a ticket in our system.
The CAD library seems to be reading the file properly so it is something in the following UE step.
There is no ETA time and IFC is a low priority format: do you have a way to export models to another CAD format?
Hi,
We have almost the same problem and can’t seem to solve it!
We are working on 3dsmax 2020, with datasmith plugin (we tried with versions 5.1, 5.3.2 and 5.4), we tried to import into unreal 5.4 and 5.3, during each export and import, on arrival we are missing a considerable number of objects!
So we started from an empty scene and just created simple cubes and at the end we had the right number of actors in the scene, however a certain number of actors had no geometry!
During our process we have no crash issues.
Did you solve your problem or do you have a possible solution!
Import from datasmith file into UE goes through a different pass.
Your issue is most likely different.
Can you open a new thread on forum and provide some of your log files?
