new user of datasmith here. I’m attempting to use a current progress model that didn’t start as a datasmith import, just a direct import from SU to TM. Model import 1 image is my SU model and matches TM model import 1 image. I realized i had some geometry turned off in SU so i corrected that in SU per model import 2 image. I hit refresh in TM model import 1 refresh image and nothing happened except in the Scene tab to the right it shows model 17 at bottom but not associated to ANY geometry in the TM model. I delete that and nothing changes in the TM model. Then i reimport direct link and the SU model comes in completely rotated per the TM model import 1 direct link refresh image. WTF!!! What am I doing wrong if anything? I have used TM for 5 years and its a consistent love/hate. when will the program ‘just work properly’!!! If this can’t be clearly resolved i may need to move to a different program, I have reached the end of my patience.
Does the TM team not have anyone staffed that can reliably respond to serious forum questions? Seriously, look at the repsonse counts. I know this platform has strong financial backing from many industries and a long future, so again, where is the support?

Datasmith and sketchup files are different workflows. Datasmith is more ‘UE’ complient and so the orientation differs from TM sketchup import.
The only way is to conform one to the other is to make rotation of the whole import by 90°
The strange thing in your import sequence, is the missing element in the image 2.
It can happen if in sketchup you have some elements that are in an open group while saving.
