Datasmith Installer not recognising Solidworks Connected 2025

Hi,

I’m trying to get Datasmith installed so I can export models from Solidworks, however the installer does not seem to recognise any compatible version of Solidworks on my computer.

I’m using Solidworks Connected 2025 (3DExperience), and the latest version of the Datasmith installer. Working on Windows 11 Pro.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Hi @Ehaula
Let’s see…

Check Compatibility: Ensure that the Datasmith plugin is compatible with Solidworks Connected. It will not be compatible with 3DExperience versions right away.
Try Standard Solidworks: If possible, try installing a standalone version of Solidworks to see if the installer works
Install Required Plugins: Ensure the Datasmith plugin has been installed in both Solidworks and Unreal Engine.
Manual Installation: Try to manually set the path to your Solidworks installation if the installer can’t locate it
Check Windows Updates: Ensure your Windows 11 Pro is updated.
Contact Epic Games Support: If none of the above works, reach out to Epic Games for more customized assistance

  1. As far as I understand, Solidworks Connected is a browser application so Datasmith Exporter will not install on it.
  2. Users with normal Solidworks 2025 application will have to wait for UE 5.6 datasmith exporter for support.

Can you export sldprt or sldasm from your Solidworks Connected application, or other file formats? And then import those in UE instead.
